How it works

The Famous Five

Team Building

Team-building doesn't have to mean raft-building!  Many people would love the chance to work with colleagues to solve a mystery, discovering hidden strengths and forming positive relationships.

This option can accommodate between 4 and 40 players.  We recommend playing in teams of 3 to 6 members. Events can be a half-day or full-day: and obviously, it's a tougher puzzle at the longer event! We can attach the half-day event to other Awayday activities, such as review, planning and strategy meetings.

With this option, we can find you a suitable venue or stage the event on site for you.  Our Detective Chief Inspector hosts the event.

Silent Witness

Leader support

This option is for new leaders; new teams; or teams that have experienced difficulties. It works on two levels: first, as an enjoyable team-building event which will help build relationships.  Second, as an opportunity to collect very valuable information on how the leader can improve the behaviour and dynamic of their team.

It can accommodate teams of up to 12 people, including the team leader.  For 6 or fewer player, our Detective Chief Inspector will host the event.  With 7-12 players, she will be accompanied by our Detective Sergeant.

The DCI and DS also observe the event  closely. These skilled observers will take comprehensive notes on how each team member behaves during the event and will assess the team dynamic overall.

After the event, they will provide a written report for the team leader,  identifying any behavioural or relationship issues that may be a barrier to success for this team.  This report also includes detailed guidance on how the leader might address the issues that were observed.

New Tricks

Recruitment and Assessment Centres

This option uses the game as candidate assessment, either for individual vacancies or as an Assessment Centre. We customise the content of the mystery to prompt responses to the skills and behaviours needed in the role(s).

We can accommodate 4 to 40 players. Events are hosted by our DCI and her team, depending on numbers.

The engaging nature of the crime mystery is very effective in encouraging candidates to let down their guard and behave true to type.  Just as in the team-building event, candidates solve the mystery and their behaviours are observed, analysed and objective information is given on their performance and behaviour.  A written report is provided on the behaviour of each candidate, including guidance for topics to pursue further at interview.
